OLYMPIC TRACK FOR BOBBIN AND SLEGGING

The Olympic track for bobsleigh and luge in Sarajevo is located on Trebević. It was built for the Winter Olympics in 1984, but was damaged during the siege in 1992. Today, the track is mostly preserved, although on one of the last bends there are holes from defensive fire, and it serves exclusively as a tourist attraction. The track has also become a popular spot for graffiti.

BAŠČARŠIJA

Baščaršija is Sarajevo’s old bazaar, and the historical and cultural center of the city. Baščaršija is home to several important historical buildings, such as the Gazi Husref Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower. Today, Baščaršija is the main tourist attraction of the city of Sarajevo. Before the arrival of the Ottomans, the largest settlement in Sarajevo Polje was the village square Tornik, which was located at the crossroads where Ali Pasha’s mosque is today. Baščaršija was created in 1462, when Isa-beg Ishaković built an inn, and next to it numerous shops with souvenirs.
