The European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe announced yesterday the list of 356 works competing for the 2017 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
Studio Zec with the project Hotel Pino Nature Trebević was nominated for the European Union for Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe in 2017.
This award is given every two years since 1987., and the winner will receive 60,000 USD and a sculpture that evokes the Pavilion Mies van der Rohe in Barcelona.
In the project description of Hotel Pino Nature is stated that besides the cult of coffee drinking, Sarajevo has tradition of recreation in the surrounding mountains, which are real “lungs of the city”. The appearance of the hotel Pino is based on steep roofs and experiences of national architects, the natural geometry of the mountain environment and warmth of a mountain lodge.

Hotel Pino Nature is awarded with Golden A’ Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design Category by the International Design Academy, the grand jury panel of the A’ Design Award & Competition which consists of influential press members, established designers, leading academics and prominent entrepreneurs worldwide.
The European Hotel Design Awards ceremony is to be held in London on November 21. Among the nominated facilities is the newly built hotel Pino Nature, located on Trebević Mountain, in Sarajevo.
Together with six other facilities, Hotel Pino Nature is nominated in the category “Newbuild”. Renowned BiH architect Amir Zec is credited for the design of this hotel’s interior.
Europe Hotel Design Awards are being presented for exceptional design and architecture of hotels, in honor of architects and designers. Awards are presented for creativity, innovativeness and excellence, in thirteen different categories.
Studio Zec on the Architecture Bienale in Venice! The judges have chosen 37 european architecture studios and the representative for `bi`h in this selection is Studio Zec with the project hotel Pino!
37 countries and over 100 practices have been involved in IN practice, the first research project that will compose a high-profile international network, curated by AIAC – Italian Association for Architecture and Criticism – in collaboration with the magazine A10 new European architecture and with the scientific contribution of Bureau Europa, is promoted and supported by Studio Gnosis. The goal of IN practice is to research innovative practices that are cleverly (re)shaping the world and to highlight qualitative architecture in Europe in order to provide a source of inspiration for the younger generations.
The results of this research will be presented for the first time in Venice in the volume “IN practice”. This will include images, reflections and critical essays, thus illustrating a varied and complex mosaic representative of the state of committed architecture in Europe.
On the occasion of the Book launch, the European Practices selected are invited to Venice to talk about their works and their experiences. Far from the commercial logic of “Star Architects System”, they have designed interesting and innovative solutions for today’s architectural topics
The traditional 6th April exhibition, which is dedicated to the celebration of the Day of the City of Sarajevo, opened on the same night in the gallery Collegium artisticum Center for culture KS-a.
Three artistic association from Bosnia and Herzegovina – Artists applied to arts and designers’ organization (ULUPUBih), Architects association (AABih) and Artists organization (ULUBiH) – organized together the exhibition, by doing so created a platform to present the works of their associates.
On the opening night three Grand prix were awarded, one for each association.
One of the awards was received by Amir Vuk - Zec for Hotel “Pino” located on Trebević.
Vuk said the consigned acknowledgment mean a great deal to him for his future work, and especially because he was awarded for a facility that means so much to Sarajevo’s people.
The 6th April exhibition or Saloon “Collegium artisticum” possesses a collective character as a value that needs to be cultivated, in the name of the date to which it is dedicated, 6th April 1945., to the Day Sarajevo was liberated, and to honor the memory on the Bosnian-Herzegovian avant-garde that was represented by the Art group “Collegium artisticum” (1939-1941).
